The thirteenth event under the theme of ‘Talking about the Human Rights of Older Persons’ took place as an online roundtable meeting chaired by Dr. Hye-Kyung Lee (Chairperson of the Board of Directors of AGAC) on July 26, 2023.   Ms. Margaret Young (Founder, Age Knowble, Canada), Dr. Sung-Jae Choi (Emeritus Professor, Seoul National University), Mr. Hyun-se Cho (President of HelpAge Korea), Dr. Hae-Yung Song (General-Secretary of AGAC) participated in the roundtable.

Margaret Young is the founder of Age Knowble and an older person's rights advocate who has been devoted to emphasizing the importance of addressing older person's human rights. Also, she has been proactively collaborating with the Center to enhance the human rights of older persons as a key member of AGAC Global Advisory Group. One of he main advocacy efforts is to let the world recognize the need for a new UN Convention on older person's rights through her active participation in UN Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing sessions, #AgeingwithRights global rally and numerous other advocacy activities.

Age Knowble is a social enterprise established in Vancouver, Canada in 2019, Age Knowble aims to advance the human rights of older persons by engaging in civil movements that empower older individuals and raise awareness among public authorities and civil society about their rights. Through its consistent intersectoral collaborations, Age Knowble has been serving as a catalyst for progress in this area.

​The following subjects were discussed in this roundtable: key points of the 13th session of the UN Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing in April 2023, the necessity of a new UN Convention on older persons' rights, and the importance of intersessional works on the co-facilitator's questionnaire for the gap reports, etc.
