The ASEM Global Ageing Center (AGAC) participated as a co-host of the International Conference and Workshops on Community-led Approaches and Innovations for Better Care Systems and Community Resilience Toward an Inclusive Silver Economy, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 6 to 8, 2026.
Jointly organized by Thailand’s Department of Older Persons, the College of Population Studies at Chulalongkorn University, and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the conference brought together around 200 policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and development partners from across Asia and the Pacific. AGAC joined leading international and regional organizations, including UNFPA, UN-Habitat, ADB, ACAI, ALAP, Tsao Foundation, FOPDEV, HSRI, NIDA, CU-COLLAR, and Chula-ARI.

The event featured discussions on strengthening community-based responses to population ageing, with a focus on care systems, workforce sustainability, community resilience, resource mobilization, and innovative community care models. AGAC contributed to exchanges on community resilience and approaches to integrated care at the community level.
The conference concluded with the adoption of the Bangkok Recommendations, which set out key priorities for (i) community-led care and long-term care systems, (ii) care workforce, standards, and safeguarding, (iii) sustainable financing and resource mobilization for community care, and (iv) community resilience, age-friendly environments, and climate risk. Co-host organizations also shared future directions for collaboration during a joint press briefing.

In conjunction with the conference, the Aging Innovation Expo Thailand showcased innovative age-friendly technologies, digital care solutions, and services supporting healthy and active ageing.
