AGAC Issue Focus is a biannual periodical that aims to address ageing and human rights issues in a timely fashion. The publication introduces relevant ASEM partner policies and responses to a wider audience in order to promote information-sharing and awareness-raising and ultimately enhance ASEM partner cooperation.

The 2024 AGAC Issue Focus Special Edition is titled Korea’s Framework Act on the Human Rights of Older Persons: Why It Is Needed, and a Legislative Draft, and this is the English translation of the 2023 Special Edition. Claudia Mahler, the UN Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights by Older Persons, has highlighted the necessity for individual countries to establish laws and systems that promote the human rights of older persons in order to facilitate the adoption of a UN convention. In keeping with this trend, the ASEM Global Ageing Center (AGAC) has prepared this special edition to promote the enactment of the Framework Act in Korea.
