AGAC Issue Focus – Special Edition 2025
Best Policies and Practices on the Human Rights of Older Persons in Korea

AGAC Issue Focus is a biannual periodical that addresses emerging issues at the intersection of population ageing and older persons’ human rights. It introduces relevant policies, initiatives, and responses from ASEM partners to promote information-sharing and awareness-raising, and ultimately to strengthen cooperation across the ASEM community.

Prepared by the AGAC Issue Focus Team, the 2025 Special Edition—Best Policies and Practices on the Human Rights of Older Persons in Korea—highlights exemplary practices from Korea that advance the rights and well-being of older persons, with a particular focus on innovative public–private partnerships and community-based initiatives.

This special edition brings together six articles that showcase diverse approaches to promoting active ageing, social participation, and dignity in later life.

We hope this edition will support policymakers, practitioners, and advocates in sharing effective practices across ASEM partner countries, and contribute to strengthening international dialogue and cooperation on the human rights of older persons.
