The ASEM Global Ageing Center (AGAC) has published the Korean translation of the Aging Well in Asia, the first Asian Development Policy Report released by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2024.
Since its founding in 1966, ADB has been committed to fostering a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia-Pacific region, working to reduce extreme poverty and promote development across its 68 member countries, including 49 from the Asia-Pacific. Through policy discussions, loans, equity investments, grants, guarantees, and technical assistance, ADB continues to support developing member countries in tackling shared challenges.
Aging Well in Asia highlights the achievements of the Asia-Pacific region in advancing older persons’ well-being and underscores the need for proactive, tailored policy discussions to address population ageing, which is reshaping the economic and social landscapes of all economies. The report explores four key dimensions of well-being: health, productive work, economic security, and social engagement. Notably, it emphasizes lifelong investment in human capital, life-cycle interventions for age-specific needs, and the importance of a whole-population approach spanning all age groups.
AGAC hopes that this Korean translation will provide valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and the public, enabling Korea’s active engagement in regional and global dialogues on population ageing and enhancing the well-being of older persons.
The original report is available on the ADB website: https://www.adb.org/publications/asian-development-policy-report-2024.
AGAC regularly monitors international reports and resources on ageing and older persons’ rights, providing Korean summaries and translations for broader accessibility. For any inquiries or feedback regarding the translation, please reach out to the team at ppmmjj@asemgac.org
